POTAPCZYK, Kristina Passed away after a brave fight with cancer at Sunnybrook Hospital on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the age of 62. Beloved wife of Bob Pomerantz. Proud mother of Sophie Pomerantz. Dear sister of Les (Peggy) Potapczyk and Mary (John) Kolbuc. Daughter-in-law of Bea and Lou Myers. Sister-in-law of Marsha (Fred) Marcus, Bill Pomerantz, Leah Myers, Miriam (Robert) Rottapel and Barry (Sarah) Myers. Dear aunt of Brian Potapczyk, Melanie (Simon) Jones and Michael (Nancy) Potapczyk, Barbara (Agyei) Gyasi, Joanne (John) Bonadie and Richard (Barb) Kolbuc, Max and Jenn Marcus, Molly (Brett) Levine, Rebecca and Julia Rottapel, Ben and Ari Spiegel and Jordan and Emma Myers. Predeceased by her parents Sophie and Stanley. A proud Niagara Falls native, Krys became a devoted, decorated member of the Ontario Public Service for 33 years after working as a Publicist at the Shaw Festival and for her local MP in Ottawa. Travelling and shopping with her daughter Sophie, spending time with friends and family, humour and theatre were among her greatest passions. Her drama school friends were among the many who visited her during her final days and minutes. Despite ill health, Krys was rehearsing hard for her role in “Motherland” at next month’s Toronto Fringe Festival until she was felled with pneumonia. Friends are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St., Niagara Falls, visiting Tuesday 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, 4678 Victoria Ave., at 11 a.m. The Rite of Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Shiva in Toronto at 9 Halford Ave., on Thursday and Friday from 1:30 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Krys’ life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation, 416-480-4483, or the University of Windsor’s School of Dramatic Arts, 519-253-3000 and would be appreciated by her family.
