Margaret Anne HOWCROFT

HOWCROFT, Margaret Anne On September 7, 2018 at the age of 89, Margaret Howcroft (nee Halloran) died peacefully.

Cherished and loving wife of the late Vincent Howcroft for 64 years; dearly loved mother of Pauline Dewan (Dennis), Tom Howcroft (Pam), Maggie Mongeon (Roger) and Liz Volk (Dave); proud grandmother of Michael Dewan (Ashley), David Dewan, Kristen Howcroft, Caroline Howcroft, Laura Knudson (Daryl), Maggie Orvidas (Pat), Raymond Mongeon, Matthew Mongeon, Nicole Volk, Kevin Volk; and great-grandmother of Emma Knudson. Daughter of the late Fred and Margaret (Lynch) Halloran; sister of Dorothy (George Gauthier); predeceased by brother Fred (Helen Halloran), sisters Marie (Mike Gainer) and Fran (Doug Burlinghoff) and brothers-in-law Tom (Anne Howcroft) and Lorne Howcroft (Carmela). Marg lived for her family and she especially loved the times they spent together at the cottage in Southampton and the condo in Naples, Florida. Marg was an exceptionally creative person. There was nothing she couldn’t sew from her daughters’ wedding dresses to ball gowns for Barbie dolls. She also designed sweaters, knitted, crocheted, smocked and painted.

She loved nothing better than to entertain friends, many whom she has known since childhood. Her faith was the foundation of her life. Parishioner of Holy Rosary Church for 63 years, she was a Eucharistic minister and a longtime member of the Catholic Women’s League. Marg volunteered for the Renew Committee, Birthright and St Martin’s Manor. She was also on the Board of Directors for Hamilton’s Catholic Youth Organization. Anyone who knew Marg will remember her as independent, sociable, determined and a woman of great fashion sense. Marg always felt like she had the best life and was very grateful for it. She was a lifelong partner to a husband that she lived for and a nurturing mother who kept her family close. A special thank you to Dr. Jane McDonald and caregivers Rhonda and Harman. Visitation will be held at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington (905-527-0405), on Wednesday, September 12th from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9 p.m.
