CIPOLLONE, Mary Margaret (Mimi) (nee LaCroix) —

February 17, 1950 – June 1, 2017

With great sadness, we announce the death of Mimi Cipollone. After living bravely and gracefully with cancer for three years, she passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 1, 2017. Mimi will be remembered as a compassionate, generous, pragmatic person with immense joie de vivre and a deep love of family. After graduating from York University in 1971, she began working for the welfare department in Toronto, later joining the Toronto District School Board as a Special Needs Assistant. Working with children came naturally to Mimi and she was dedicated to serving her community. Mimi had a resilient spirit and tremendous strength, along with a sharp wit. She was adventurous and had a lifelong love of travel. Mimi was a talented textile artist and an accomplished dressmaker and knitter with a flair for design. Predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Wayne and her son Michael, she is survived by her loving daughters Jane and Anna and her devoted partner Henrik Jacobsen. Cherished mother-in-law to Alona, Michael and Tomas. She will be dearly missed by her siblings Rose, Martin (Kathleen), Michael (Nan), Cathy and Tom (Cristina). Loving aunt to Tom, Henry, Hamish, Jack and Lulu. Funeral at St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 50 Hoskin Avenue (at St. George, adjacent to the Newman Centre) on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 10 a.m. A celebration of Mimi’s life will follow at the family home, 9 Ridout Street, Toronto. Friends may visit between 12 and 6 p.m. to remember Mimi. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Dorothy Ley Hospice. – uf
