PLAXTON, Mary Caroline

(nee Dyer) —

Born in Smiths Falls, Ontario on November 2, 1921, Mary passed away peacefully at Cawthra Gardens Long Term Care on Friday, June 10, 2016 in her 95th year. Beloved wife of John “Jack” Plaxton who predeceased her in 1991. Mary was the loving mother of the late John Plaxton who predeceased her in 2002. She is survived by her son Chris (Maureen), her daughter-in-law Barbara and cherished grandmother of Robert, Claire, Andrew, Thor, Tristan and Signy and very proud great-grandmother of Jules, Melodie and Abigail. Mary is survived by her sister Margaret “Peggy” Long of Orillia and predeceased by siblings Donald, Charles and Alexandra. Her many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends will miss her dearly. For many years, Mary was an active member of the Weston Golf and Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf, bridge and curling. In her later years, Mary enjoyed many occasions with her family and friends and was always an integral part of any function. She will be dearly remembered for her wit, grace and dignity. A special thank you to all the nurses and staff at Cawthra Gardens for their excellent care and compassion over the years. A visitation will be held at the Turner & Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy. 10, N. of QEW) on Thursday, June 16th at 10 a.m. and followed by a service at 11 a.m. to celebrate Mary’s life.
