Sylvia MESSINA (nee Insley)
MESSINA, Sylvia (nee Insley) November 21, 1940 – August 8, 2016 While at home sleeping peacefully, our Mother left with the angels to join her husband Tony Messina, her beloved sister Jean Hardie and parents James and Kathleen Insley. She often told us of her life, being born in the dark under a bed during a WWII air raid in Stoke-On-Trent, England and how they lined up for weekly food rations. Her family came to Hamilton in 1958 where she met and married Tony. Sylvia had a pure heart and a kindness and generosity that touched many people making her loved and treasured by all who knew her. She will be forever loved and missed by her children Kathleen (Romanoski), Jean (Grant Riley), Tony (Sonja Messina) along with her grandchildren J’Neene, Rachel, Sheleen, Ryan, Lucas, Jared, Brett and Devan. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, August 21 from 2-4 p.m. at the Edelweiss Bldg. St. Elizabeth Village, 391 Rymal Rd. West. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army where she attended the Mountberry Adult Day Program would be appreciated. Our Butterfly – As you danced in the light with joy, love lifted you. As you brushed against this world, so gently you lifted us.
