FRIDRIH, Mirko January 27, 1935 – October 14, 2017 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mirko Fridrih on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10:50 p.m. in his 82nd year. With a strong will to live he courageously fought after complications from heart surgery Mirko spent the reminder of his time at home surrounded by his family never losing his positivity and ability to laugh and smile. He was, and always will be beloved husband and soul mate to Mira for 59 years. Caring and giving father to Drazen “Dan”, and Zdravka “Christine” (Krunoslav). Magnanimous Grandfather “Otata” to Adam, Eric (Stephanie), Michael (Angela) and Matthew. He will be missed by his sister-in-law Elica, niece Renata, nephew Dalibor (Kathy) and children Joey and Maria, as well as numerous relatives in Croatia, Switzerland and Germany. A retired Dofasco employee, member of The Knights of Columbus, and active member of Holy Cross Parish. Mirko, a humble hard working man was always honoured to have been able to serve numerous Dignitaries, Bishops, and church officials from Canada and Croatia in his retired years with Mira by his side. A heartfelt thank you for all of the help goes out to MaryAn and Susan from CCAC, his doctors, and especially the numerous nursing staff and PSW’s that cared with compassion to assist Mirko. May he now rest peacefully in the heavens above reunited with his brothers William, Adolf, Zeljko, Eduard, and his parents Ana and Franjo. He will be always remembered and deeply missed. Family and friends are welcome to Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King St. E., on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 for visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Rosary at 7:15 p.m. Funeral mass to be held at Holy Cross Croatian Church, 1883 King St. E., on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels cemetery.
