Nancy WESTON

October 2, 1934 – July 27, 2016
With great sorrow we announce the passing of Nancy at the Toronto General Hospital on July 27, 2016.
Beloved wife of Thomas and loving mother of Catherine, Robert, Bonnie (Gregory Gayowsky) and Lori (Russell Rowe). Devoted grandmother of Sophia and Alexander.
Born in Winnipeg, Nancy graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1955 with a B.Sc. specializing in mathematics at a time when few women did so. She met her future husband Tom in the Deep River Chorus while both were working for Atomic Energy Canada. After relocating to Ottawa, she attended teacher’s college and enjoyed part time teaching while raising her children. After retirement, they relocated to Toronto to be closer to family.
Nancy was active in the Ukrainian community both in Ottawa and Toronto for many years. She was a master of skilled elocution. She enjoyed puzzles of any type and retained her wit up until her passing.
We would like to thank Dr. Douglas Cameron, Dr. Paul Greig, Dr. David Altman and the late Dr. Samuel Leitenberg for their exemplary care. Thank you as well to the doctors and nurses of the Cardiology service at the Toronto General Hospital for their efforts during her last days. We are grateful that despite living a long period with chronic illness she was able to return to God peacefully.
Visitation will be Friday, July 29, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 30, 2106 at 9 a.m. in the Chapel at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, interment to follow, the Reverend Father B. Sencio officiating.
