COLUMBOS, Nina Elisabet “Lizzy” It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lizzy in the early hours of July 26, 2017 at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener, ON. Lizzy was the youngest of 10 children born to Alexander and Eugenia Columbos in March, 1963 in Toronto, ON. Lizzy was born prematurely with multiple physical and developmental disabilities and significant health issues. Lizzy was cared for by the many wonderful and kind staff of Sunbeam Centre in Kitchener, ON, since the spring of 1964. In 1999, Lizzy moved to Paradise Home where she resided with the continued exceptional care and support of Sunbeam staff before moving to Voss House in 2014, due to her increasingly complex medical needs. Lizzy was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Eugenia, her brothers John, Peter and Theodore and sister Effie. She is survived by her brother Michael and sisters Penny, Anna, Alexandra and Joanne, 21 nieces and nephews and many incredibly caring staff at Sunbeam Centre. Lizzy’s family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all the Sunbeam staff (Voss and Paradise) past and present, including the current Voss House team of nurses led by Laverne, Kelly, Heather, Michelle, Stephanie and Ann and to the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held at Jerrett Funeral Home, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON, on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery.
