NORAHVERONICA CAMPBELL

NORAH VERONICA CAMPBELL 1918 – 2017 In Memory of Our Mother Your life was a blessing your memory a treasure; You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. With great love and sadness, the family announces the passing of Norah Veronica (McDevitt) Campbell on Monday, April 10th. She passed away in her home surrounded by family. Born in Albion, Ontario on May 10, 1918, she was the daughter and youngest child of Francis and Honorah McDevitt. She was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) James Campbell, her parents, her brothers (Frank and Doherty) and sisters (Cecilia Hamilton, Agatha Small, Patricia Small and Christina McDevitt). She is survived by her sons John (Annette), Paul (Elizabeth) and daughter Trish Campbell, seven grandchildren (Sean, Eamonn, Niamh, Ryan, Mariah, Carver and Sarah) and great-grandchild (Riley). Norah graduated from Saint Michael’s School of Nursing in Toronto in 1940 and began her career serving injured soldiers returning from WWII at the Christie Street Military Hospital. In 1948 she married Bill Campbell and worked part time while raising her family. In 1962 she returned to full time nursing, working at Bendale Acres Long Term Care until her retirement in 1983. She enjoyed her volunteer work with Goodwill and canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society for over 30 years. One of her greatest joys was tending to her garden which she did even in later years, weeding her garden beds while pushing her walker. She, like her four sisters, was an inspiration to all who knew her. Norah’s quiet but strong willed, intellectual and very independent nature was complimented by her very gentle, wise and caring ways. A “Celebration of Life” ceremony will be announced at a later date. Immediate family only for private interment.
