ETHERIDGE, Norman Philip Peacefully departed this earth on January 27, 2017, to rejoin his beloved wife Mary. Much loved father of Philip (Elaine) and Mary (Paul). “Gramps” to Sarah, Robyn, Candice (Shawn) and Ryan (Ashley) and great-grandpa to Aiden and Alora. Born March 16, 1927 in Croydon, England. Norman served in the Royal Navy where he apprenticed in aircraft maintenance. He married his beloved Mary in 1949, welcomed son Philip in 1951 and moved to Canada in 1957. Daughter Mary arrived in 1963. Norm had a long and successful career in aviation at Toronto Airport with Kenting, Field Aviation and INCO. His true legacy will be his contributions to historical aircraft restoration, first CF-TCC for Air Canada’s 50th anniversary in 1986, and then the Mynarksi Memorial Lancaster bomber G-VRA in 1988 (one of only two left flying in the world). Norman was the recipient of the Phoenix Award-Federation Aeronautique Internationale (1993), Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Hall of Fame (2012) and the Milton Walk of Fame (2013). The family would like to thank the many caregivers who have shown Norman such kindness during his last months. Family and friends are invited to visit at the McKERSIE-KOCHER FUNERAL HOME 114 Main St. E. Milton 905-878-4452 from 4 pm to 4:30 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service and reception at 4:30 p.m., on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Norman’s creed: From Ephesians 4:1- “Walk worthy of the vocation by which you are called”.
