ODETTE BABIN Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Odette Babin, 85, of North York left her loved ones on April 19, 2017. She was born in New Carlisle West in Gaspésie, Québec, to J. Arthur Babin and Régina Arsenault on April 12, 1932. Odette was the seventh daughter of eight girls and graduated from Les Ursulines School in Gaspé. After her youngest son started school she returned to her love of teaching. Odette was admired and respected among her peers and demonstrated kindness and inspiration to all who she encountered. Her ongoing learning and teaching throughout the years has enhanced the lives of many. Odette and her family are founding members of la Paroisse Saint-Louis-de-France of Toronto where she enjoyed many activities especially Tai Chi. Odette leaves behind her treasured family and loving husband and partner of 58 years, Louis-Marie. Children: Lyne (Leslie), Serge (Josée), Mireille (Paul) and Michel (Sandra). Her precious grandchildren: Stephen (Kalie), Alexandra, Julie (Dane), Justin, Philippe and Amélie. Her beautiful great-granddaughters: Jade and Juniper. She also leaves her sister Géraldine and her brothers and sisters-in-law and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents J. Arthur Babin and Régina Arseneault, her sisters Thérèse (Jules), Marie-Ange (Robert), Martha (Phil), Pauline (Roger), Gilberte (Robert) and Rollande. The family will receive guests at PAUL O’CONNOR FUNERAL HOME, 1939 Lawrence Ave. E. (between Pharmacy and Warden), in Toronto on Thursday, April 27th from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, April 28th at Saint-Louis-de-France at 11 a.m., 1415 Don Mills Rd., Toronto. Please join the family for a Celebration of Odette’s Life at the Westin Prince Hotel at 1 p.m., 900 York Mills Rd., Toronto. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the following: Saint-Louis-de-France Church, the Palliative Care Units at North York General Hospital and Providence Healthcare Centre. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the Palliative Care teams at North York General Hospital 3W and at the Providence Healthcare Centre. These professionals were wonderful and compassionate with our mom as she went through the final steps of her days on this earth. We will never forget you. Merci infiniment!
