PeterAustin FELLOWES

FELLOWES, Peter Austin In his 93rd year, on Friday, July 21, 2017, peacefully passed away. Peter persevered through nine very difficult months which saw him transform from a very active and vibrant man to a life that was very different. He experienced challenges with swallowing which eventually led to a natural decline. Peter was a devoted husband to his beloved Peggy (nee Korman) and loving father to children Jim and Kathy (nee Fellowes) Casler and father-in law to her husband Ken. Peter loved to spend time with his grandchildren Kyle and Kassandra – they were a very important part of his life. He loved to hear about their pursuits. Predeceased by his brother Richard and sisters Braida, Betty, Joan and Molly and parents May (nee Baxter) and Austin. He is fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. A huge part of Peter’s life revolved around his love of running, race-walking, cross-country skiing, cycling and in later years, lawn bowling. Peter became a distinguished athlete, running the first of his 9 completed marathons at the age of 53. These accomplishments led to a collection of medals from first to third place finishes in various road races across Ontario. He set Ontario and Canadian Master’s records for his age group in his seventies and eighties, some of which hold to this day. Peter will be sadly missed by all of his friends whom he enjoyed many hours of bridge after his retirement as a Professional Civil Engineer. He cherished all the many friendships he made along his life’s journey. The family wishes to thank all the physicians, nurses and other staff that were involved in his care these last nine months – in particular those at North York General Hospital and Baycrest Health Services.
