PETER XAVIER FRANCIS
1924 – 2016
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at McCowan Retirement Residence in Scarborough, ON at the age of 92. Son of the late Anthony Francis and Mariquinha Soares. Loving husband of the late Elsie Gomes, father of Glenn and Ivan (Karen), grandfather of Justin, Jennifer, Lindsay and Andrew and predeceased by sisters Bridget and Zita and brother Wilfred. Peter had an enduring strength of faith, conviction of his beliefs and was devoted to his family. He was an active member of his community, helping many in their early days in Canada. His literary skills as Editor in various forums provided news and thoughtful insight about life events. His most cherished memories were of family and friends. He will be missed but fondly remembered. Special thanks and appreciation to those who provided excellent medical care and comfort for him at McCowan Retirement Residence and Scarborough General Hospital. Friends may call on Friday, July 15, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St. (at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paschal Baylon Church, 92 Steeles Ave. West. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scarborough General Hospital.
