ROBERT GERALD SIMPSON March 10, 1944 – April 6, 2017 Bob’s courageous and valiant six year journey with cancer ended at home with family. Loving husband to Madeline, Dad to Andrea (Craig) and Chad (Bianca). Amazing “Pa” to Daniel, Beth, Andrew, Chelsea and Dylan. Loving brother to Bill (Betty), Jim (Nada), Rick (Kathi) and Marilyn (Rob) and Uncle Bob to his cherished nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents William and Gertrude Simpson, sister Vanita and mother-in-law Joan Mace. Bob was with General Motors for 42 years. His career led to many lifelong friendships and adventures across the globe. Bob gave of his time generously to family – always – and community. He was both a volunteer driver and then President of the Durham Cancer Society , served on the executive of the Senior Mens’ group at the Whitby Curling Club and was active in the support of many political campaigns locally. A celebration of his life will take place at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Rd., Whitby, (905-443-3376), on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 2 p.m. followed by reception.
