BOCCACCIO, Samuel “Sammy” Peacefully at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice on Sunday, February 25, 2017 in his 98th year. Beloved husband of the late Carmela (2002). Dear father of Joanne O’Reilly (Daniel) and Richard (Lily). Proud and loving Granpa of Daniel (Sheila) and Matthew. Treasured brother to Angelo (Beatrice) of Montreal, Carmelo (the late Shirley) of Ancaster and predeceased by his sister Anne Hall (Edward). Survived by his sister-in law Jenny Van Fleet. Predeceased by his in-laws Angelo and Mary Marranca, Ken and Connie McLachlan and Gordon Van Fleet. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Sam was a Private in the Royal Regiment of Canada and saw active duty overseas in 1944. He was reported missing in action in September 1944 when he was captured and taken prisoner in Dunkirk, France. He was released in May 1945 and was discharged in July 1945. He returned to Hamilton and was a long time employee of Canron Foundries. He was a lifelong music lover who played guitar for 70 years. Sam played his final 2 encores 2 days before his passing. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion. Visitation will be held at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME “WILLIAM J. MARKEY CHAPEL” 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Wednesday, March 1 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place in St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, 11 Wilson Street, Ancaster on Thursday, March 2 at 10:00 a.m. Followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
