Shirley Eleanor ROBINSON

(nee VALENTINE)

Shirley passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 at the age of 80. She was born in Sudbury, ON and raised in Toronto with her older brother Tony. She attended Teacher’s College, went on to get a Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto and became a teacher and consultant in physical education in North York and Peel.

She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 50 years, Paul, and their children Michael (Shannon) of San Francisco and Timothy (Elizabeth Plowright) of Owen Sound, ON and brother-in-law Robbie Robinson of Mississauga, ON, sisters-in-law Sally Robinson (Greg Skuce) of White Horse, Yukon and Ruth Valentine and family of Fairmont Hot Springs, BC and Calgary, AB. She will be dearly missed by her beloved grandchildren Tegan and Noah Robinson of San Francisco.

She loved her life at the cottage on Lake Couchiching, playing golf, theatre-going, bridge, skiing, curling, travelling the world and having fun with friends whose support and love she cherished. She was predeceased by parents Aune “Anne” and Anatol “Tony” Valentine and her brother Tony.

A volunteer extraordinaire, Shirley was very active with the Canadian Cancer Society (for which she received a City of Mississauga Civic Award) and the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Friends are invited to join the family Tuesday, July 26, 2016 starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga, ON, followed by a celebration of life starting at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Orillia will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada or the Trillium Health Partners. Online condolences and donations may be made through www.turnerporter.ca
