Dr. Albert W SILVER
SILVER, Dr. Albert W June 8, 1929 – August 13, 2016 After one final glorious summer, filled with sunsets, family and feasting alfresco, Dr. Albert Silver passed away without pain three months after a diagnosis of glioblastoma. He is survived by his beloved partner Roslyn Savage, his three children Miriam (Joseph), Adam (Tara) and Ruth (Bertrand) and the ever-caring mother of his children, Edith Sands. He is sadly missed by his seven granddaughters Tessa, Ruby, Lia, Ali, Libby and the twins Bonnie and Marlowe who all loo-loo their Saba. Albert Wolf Zylbersweig was born in Berlin to Jewish Polish parents, Jacob and Myrla. He was raised in New York City, and lived in Burlington and Toronto since 1974. These experiences imbued him with a keen interest in Holocaust studies, lifelong learning and nature. He will be remembered by many as a psychologist, advocate, mentor and musician. For 40 years he ran a respected psychology practice in Burlington. Dr. Silver’s work on behalf of those less fortunate focused in recent years on equal access to mental health services. This was recognized by his colleagues at the Ontario Psychological Association who granted him the Award of Merit in 2014. Donations to continue these efforts may be made to the Dr. Albert Wolf Silver Memorial Fund at https://torontofoundation.ca/Silver. Many thanks to the teams at Bridgepoint and TRI for their wonderful care. Funeral services will take place at Benjamin’s Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Ave. W. (three lights west of Dufferin) on Monday, August 15th at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery (Plot C 1542) and shiva at the home of Roslyn Savage for the first day immediately following the burial, at 19 Lower Village Gate (Spadina and Heath St. in Toronto).
