Silvino “Silvio” FALOVO

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Silvio Falovo announces his passing in the early morning of October 17, 2016 at Bridgepoint Hospital, Toronto. In 1958, Silvio, son of the late Antonio and Francesca Falovo, along with his two surviving sisters Giuliana and Teresa boarded the SS Saturnia leaving behind Terracina, Italy and immigrated to Canada landing at Halifax’s Pier 21. Silvio worked tirelessly to create a successful iron and wood railing business in Toronto for many years. Silvio is survived by his sons Jason (Karen) and Alexander (Jan) from his marriage to Geraldine (Flynn). Silvio leaves behind his beloved sisters Giuliana Baldesarra (the late Sante) and Teresa DiSavino (Angelo). Silvio cherished children, always greeting his two grandchildren with candy and a smile and will be sadly missed by Jared and Avery. Uncle / Zio Syl will be remembered by all his nieces and nephews who all have shared their own special memories: Grace, Mark, Enzo, Rosa, Michael, Frank, Michael, Kenny, Stephen, Jeff, Christopher and Elizabeth. Silvio loved watching his sons play sports, fishing up north and talked about the beaches of Terracina till the day he died. The family would like to thank the Oncology team (led by Dr. Blondal) at St. Joseph’s along with the CCAC Toronto for assisting in Silvio’s care. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane Subway on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 3 p.m. For those who wish, donations in loving memory of Silvio Falovo can be made to the oncology department at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
