SMITH, Douglas R. Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at the Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, in his 69th year. Loving husband and best friend of Jayne Marie Johnston-Smith. Treasured son of the late Wilbert “Wib” (1995) and Kathleen “Kay” (2002) Smith. Dear brother of Donald Scott Smith (Wendy). Loved brother-in-law of Jo-Anne Morgan (John) and Jackie Johnston. Cherished uncle of Craig (Mary Claire), Jami (Damon), Samantha, Darren, Rhiannon, Jillian (Darren), and Lee, and great-uncle of Grace, Carly, Clara and Zoey. Doug will be loved and fondly remembered by many cousins, extended family and great friends. Cremation with interment to follow at a later date, in the family plot at Greenwood Cemetery, Burlington. A Celebration of Life will be held at Wellington Square United Church, 2121 Caroline Street, Burlington, on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11 a.m., followed by a reception at the church. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff on 3 East and ICU at Joseph Brant Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion.
