Thomai”Thelma” MOURIOPOULOS (nee Nates)

MOURIOPOULOS, Thomai “Thelma” (nee Nates) March 1, 1929 – February 20, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother Thelma on Monday, February 20, 2017 in her 88th year. Loving wife of the late Nikoloas, loving and devoted mother of Linda Barnett (Jim), Alexander (Debbie) and loving grandmother of Nikolas, Maximillian and Sebastian. Loving sister and friend of Rita Cirino of Cleveland. She will be affectionately remembered by nieces Gina Greisl and Marie Lograsso and nephew, Anthony Cirino of Cleveland, their spouses and children. Thelma was the daughter of the late Kosmas and Evgenia Nates. Thelma was born in Tihio, Kastoria, Greece on March 1, 1929. She immigrated to Canada in the 1940’s and later married her childhood sweetheart, Nikoloas, who immigrated to Canada in 1951. Together they owned and operated the Ideal Restaurant and Tavern for more than 40 years. Thelma will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and wonderfully warm personality. She immediately made everyone she met feel special and welcomed. Nick and Thelma were devoted to their church and were founding members of both St. Demetrios and Panagia Church in Hamilton. She also worked extensively for the ladies Philoptochos in both churches. She loved music, dancing, her darling kitty Tiger and being with her family and friends. An accomplished crotchetier, she gifted many family and friends with her pieces of art. Special thanks to nursing staff at St. Peter’s at Chedoke, Elm Terrace, for the loving care and devotion to our mother for the past 5 years.
