Irene YEWCHYN (nee Makar)
YEWCHYN, Irene (nee Makar) Peacefully passed away at Ridgeview Long Term Care on Monday, August 15, 2016 at the age of 88. Predeceased by her beloved husband William Vasyl Yewchyn. Cherished mother of LubaMera Yewchyn-Pawczuk and her husband Eugene Pawczuk. Proud grand-mother of Anton Pawczuk and his wife Patricia. Great-grandmother of Zoya and Ambrose. She will also be dearly missed by her sister Katarina Galan and her husband the late George, and her brother Nicholas Makar and his wife Ellen. Loving aunt to her niece Irene and nephews Terry, the late Mike, Paul, and Andrew. Irene will always be fondly remembered by her extended family and friends. She came to Canada in 1950 from Uzhhorod, Ukraine via Salzgitter, Germany and settled in Bissett, Manitoba while her husband worked in a Goldmine. After a couple years, the family settled in Hamilton. Irene worked in textiles while her husband worked in the steel industry. Always full of creative energy and decisiveness, she never sat still as a wonderful, caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed and loved always. Visitation at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. Panachyda at 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection, 821 Upper Wentworth Street, Hamilton on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. www.markeydermody.com
