SHEFLIN, Eugene “Sonny” Peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, in his 92nd year. Beloved husband to Rae for 70 years. Caring father to John (Marjory) Sheflin, Dianne (Larry) Armstrong, Christine (Oleh) Kupraty and the late Linda Tribble. Adored grandfather to 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Loving brother to “Pudge” Helen Hartshorne. Eugene was a proud Navy Veteran, faithful employee of the Globe and Mail for 30 years, President of the North York Hockey League and a director for the GTHL. He will be remembered for his generosity, caring nature and unfailing wit. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Glendale Funeral Home, 1810 Albion Road, Etobicoke (Albion Road and Highway 27), from 12 p.m. until a Memorial Service commences at 2 p.m. in the Glendale Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eugene’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
